In October, 2002, we spent a glorious week in Delray Beach, Florida. Our hotel was 2 blocks from the beach -- we rented an 8th floor studio apartment with an ocean view. On three of those mornings, I awoke just before sunrise and was able to capture the dawn of the day. On the following pages, I share some breathtaking moments. October 13: |

All of the shots on this page were taken using a Canon AV-1 with an 85mm lens. Kodak 400 speed film was used.

October 14 dawned much like the previous day |

This first photo was taken just as the sun began to creep over the horizon. I had a 28mm wide angle lens on the camera |
I switched to my 85mm lens for this one |
I went to a slightly different location with the 28mm |
For the last two, I switched back to the 85mm, as well as adding a polarizer filter |
October 16: All but the last photo were taken with the 85mm lens. The night before had been stormy and we still had residual clouds to deal with. The last picture in this series was taken from a different vantage point, a bit later, using the 28mm lens. |
